Uncover the evolution of the detective story

Follow the clues to learn about Baltimore crime fiction writers Edgar Allen Poe, Dashiell Hammett, David Simon, and Laura Lippman and solve the case. 

Itinerary

Day 1 (Saturday)

10 am – Meet Edgar Allan Poe with a tour of his family home in Baltimore.

11: 30 – Find out the sordid story of Poe’s demise and visit his final resting spot. 

12:30 – Taste a Baltimore Crab Cake at Faidleys in Lexington Market.

2 p.m. Tour the Enoch Pratt Library and see some of their special Poe collections.

Free time – with recommendations for things to do. 

6: 30 – Enjoy dinner together with the group with a special activity. 

Sleep in or get in an early morning activity on your own.

Noon – Meet for Brunch at Spoons one of Laura Lippman’s favorite spots for food and to write.

2 p.m. Take a tour of some of the city’s Landmarks and meet our next author Dashiell Hammett who penned the Maltese Falcon.

4 p.m. – Enjoy some harbor breezes on a water taxi to Fells Point where we’ll see some filming locations of Homicide: Life on the Streets.

4:30 – Explore this neighborhood in the city and stop into Greedy Reads an independent Baltimore bookstore for a little treat.

6 p.m. – We’ll head to Annabelle Lee Tavern for Dinner and Book Club.

  • Accommodations – This is to give you flexibility to stay at a hotel of your choosing, or if you want to stay extra days. If you’d like help booking please let us know and we can help. 
  • Transportation outside of Baltimore City.
  • Lunch on Saturday. And any other snacks or drinks outside of the dinners and Brunch
